Research Associate Intern

About the role#

PBS Biotech is seeking a Research Associate Intern to join our bioprocess R&D team in Camarillo, California. This role offers hands-on experience in cell and gene therapy manufacturing, working directly with our in-house R&D laboratory. Interns will participate in meaningful research projects and gain technical expertise in bioprocess technologies.

What you'll do#

• Perform daily laboratory operations, including equipment monitoring, material stocking, and sterility maintenance.
• Execute basic cell culture and analytical operations, such as media preparation, seed culture expansion, and cell growth monitoring.
• Manage bioreactor sub-assembly preparation, setup, and maintenance.
• Assist in bioprocess development, optimization, and characterization experiments.
• Generate, record, and report experimental data accurately and in a timely manner.
• Follow and contribute to the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Collaborate with internal departments, including Engineering and Quality, to support product development and testing.

What you'll need#

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Life Sciences, or Biotechnology.
• Proficiency in aseptic cell culture techniques.
• Experience with mammalian cell culture; prior bioreactor operation experience is a plus.
• Ability to perform tasks accurately and reproducibly while providing creative solutions.
• Strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
