About the role#
Passero Associates is hiring a paid Aviation Civil Engineer Co-op or Intern for our Rochester office. You will work with our aviation team on planning and design for commercial and general aviation airports. This role involves hands-on support for projects that improve airport safety and operations. You will collaborate with engineers, planners, surveyors, and architects while gaining exposure to technologies like drones, 3D visualization, and virtual reality.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the planning and design of airport infrastructure including runways, taxiways, aprons, hangars, and landside facilities.
- Prepare engineering reports, calculations, specifications, and construction documents.
- Perform field investigations, site inspections, and data collection at airport facilities.
- Support FAA grant-funded projects and learn about the airport improvement program.
- Develop plans and exhibits using AutoCAD Civil 3D and other software.
- Coordinate with project teams to support deliverables through design and construction phases.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor degree program for Civil Engineering or a related field.
- A genuine interest in aviation engineering, airport design, and transportation infrastructure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- A valid driver license and reliable transportation for site visits.
- The ability to visit active airport and construction sites.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D is preferred.
- Previous internship or co-op experience in civil engineering or aviation is a plus.

- Location: Rochester, New York.
- Term: Summer 2027 or Summer and Fall 2027.
- Work Modality: This is an on-site position.
- Compensation: 18 to 22 USD per hour.
