About the role#
Parkland College is hiring for the Student Employee Pool in the Learning Commons. These are part-time, temporary positions capped at 19 hours per week. Work occurs on-site between 8 AM and 5 PM, Monday through Friday, depending on departmental needs and your personal availability. Some roles may require federal work study eligibility.
What you'll do#
- Answer phone calls and greet visitors.
- Handle incoming correspondence, including email and faxes.
- File and retrieve documents, records, and reports.
- Create and maintain paper or electronic filing systems.
- Use Microsoft Office applications to create documents and enter data.
- Operate office equipment including copiers, PCs, and phone systems.
- Assist with special projects, research, and events.
What you'll need#
- Must meet all eligibility requirements for student employment.
- Knowledge of general office procedures and filing systems.
- Excellent spelling, grammar, and proofreading skills.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Access, Excel, and Word.
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively.
- Must not be a SURS annuitant or be willing to suspend your annuity upon employment.
