About the role#
Pape-Dawson is hiring Transportation Engineer Interns for the summer of 2027 in our Nashville office. You will work under the supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer to support roadway design projects. This role offers hands-on experience with technical documentation, design tools, and project coordination.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the planning and design of roadway and highway projects, including the preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Evaluate design alternatives by analyzing typical sections, alignments, right-of-way needs, and cost considerations.
- Use computer-aided engineering and design software to create drawings, exhibits, and supporting documents.
- Support the preparation of technical reports, memoranda, and engineering studies.
- Participate in site visits, field activities, construction observation, and data collection.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering program at an ABET-accredited college or university.
- Familiarity with engineering principles, practices, and procedures.
- Basic proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, Open Roads Designer, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
