Forward Deployed Infrastructure Engineer, Internship - US Government

About the role#

Forward Deployed Infrastructure Engineers (FDIEs) build, operate, and maintain the infrastructure powering Palantir’s platforms and production deployments. As an intern, you will work alongside full-time engineers to deploy software, automate manual processes, and develop solutions to infrastructure challenges. You will be treated as a full member of the team with ownership over your projects, working in small teams to execute real-world infrastructure tasks.

What you'll do#

• Deploy and operate Palantir software across production environments, including managing upgrades, configuration, and monitoring.
• Debug, improve, and optimize services and infrastructure to ensure long-term reliability and scalability.
• Reduce manual operations by automating workflows, processes, and runbooks.
• Develop novel solutions using Palantir’s Foundry and Apollo platforms.
• Collaborate with other FDIEs and product teams to discuss systems architecture and solve technical problems.

What you'll need#

• Engineering background in fields such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Data Science, or Electrical Engineering.
• Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Python, Java, Go, C++, or TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Comfort working with large-scale production systems and technologies, including load balancing, distributed systems, and configuration management.
• Must be planning on graduating in 2028.
• Active US Security clearance, or the eligibility and willingness to obtain one.
