Forward Deployed Infrastructure Engineer, Internship - US Government

About the role#

Forward Deployed Infrastructure Engineers (FDIEs) build, operate, and maintain the infrastructure powering Palantir’s platforms and production deployments. As an intern, you will work alongside full-time engineers to manage production environments, automate manual processes, and develop novel solutions to infrastructure challenges. You will be treated as a full member of the team, taking ownership of real infrastructure projects from beginning to end.

What you'll do#

• Deploy and operate Palantir software across production environments, including monitoring, alerting, configuration management, and upgrades.
• Debug, improve, and optimize Palantir’s services and infrastructure with a focus on long-term reliability and scalability.
• Reduce manual operations by automating workflows, processes, and runbooks.
• Develop novel solutions using Palantir’s Foundry and Apollo platforms.
• Own the end-to-end execution of real infrastructure projects with minimal supervision.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an engineering-related field, such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Data Science, with an expected graduation date in 2028.
• Strong proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Python, Java, Go, C++, or TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Ability to work independently, learn continuously, and make decisions with minimal direction.
• Active US Security clearance, or the eligibility and willingness to obtain one prior to the start of the internship.
