Forward Deployed Infrastructure Engineer, Internship - US Government

About the role#

Forward Deployed Infrastructure Engineers (FDIEs) build, operate, and maintain the infrastructure powering Palantir’s platforms and production deployments. As an intern, you will join the Delta team to work alongside full-time engineers, taking ownership of real infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for debugging distributed systems, automating manual processes, and designing improvements that scale across multiple deployments.

What you'll do#

• Deploy and operate Palantir software across production environments, including monitoring, alerting, configuration management, and upgrades.
• Debug, improve, and optimize Palantir’s services and infrastructure to ensure long-term reliability and scalability.
• Reduce manual operations by automating workflows, processes, and runbooks.
• Develop novel solutions within Palantir’s Foundry and Apollo platforms to address complex infrastructure challenges.

What you'll need#

• An engineering background in fields such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, or Data Science.
• Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Python, Java, Go, C++, or TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex systems issues using observability tools and service logs.
• An active US Security clearance, or the eligibility and willingness to obtain one prior to the start of the internship.
• Current enrollment with a planned graduation date in 2028.
