About the role#
The Art Department is looking for a Darkroom Student Assistant to manage open darkroom sessions independently. This role is for students with experience in black and white film development who want to support their peers in the lab.
What you'll do#
- Open the darkroom and set up equipment.
- Mix photography chemicals for student use.
- Help students develop film and create photographic prints.
- Clean the photo lab and darkroom after each session.
- Recycle chemicals and ensure they are properly labeled and closed.
- Enforce lab policies, including the rule against food and drink.
- Verify that only students currently enrolled in classes are using the facilities.
What you'll need#
- Federal-Work-Study eligibility.
- Completion of ART 153.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
