About the role#
As a Radiologic Technologist Student, you will provide imaging services and support the radiology department under the direct supervision of a registered technologist. This role involves assisting with routine diagnostic imaging and patient care tasks to ensure clinical standards are met.
What you'll do#
- Prepare patients for exams by verifying identity, explaining procedures, and positioning them for comfort and safety.
- Assist technologists with routine diagnostic imaging, including room setup and equipment positioning.
- Apply radiation protection and safety standards to minimize exposure for patients and staff.
- Document patient information accurately.
- Assist physicians during various imaging procedures.
- Prepare and administer contrast media or medications within your scope of practice.
- Transport patients to and from imaging areas as needed.
- Follow all regulatory and accreditation standards, including HIPAA and OSHA policies.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment in an accredited radiography program.
- A Temporary Student Radiography License through the Kentucky Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy, required within 30 days of employment.
- Certification as a Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider, required within 90 days of employment.
- Ability to work in a stressful environment and apply critical thinking to clinical situations.
