About the role#
As an Advanced Manufacturing Intern at JLG, you will work with the Manufacturing Engineering department to support production goals and continuous improvement. You will receive assignments from the Manager of Manufacturing and are encouraged to contribute your own ideas and suggestions to the team.
What you'll do#
- Support the visualization of factory data, including quality, availability, and performance.
- Create custom Ignition dashboards.
- Provide statistical analysis of weld, paint, and assembly data.
- Suggest opportunities for automated feedback in paint systems, smart torque tools, and new robotic welding systems.
- Participate in time studies, line balancing, and ergonomic assessments.
- Perform workstation and cell analyses to improve productivity and quality.
- Provide input for manufacturing fixtures and tooling.
- Use AutoCAD or similar tools to create and revise plant layout drawings.
- Learn and use ERP manufacturing software.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program for Data Analytics, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Computer Science.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Proficiency in Excel and SQL.
- Familiarity with Power BI.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, or industrial process optimization.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship located in Frederick, Maryland.
- The role involves a mix of office-based administrative tasks and physical activity on the shop floor, such as walking, standing, and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
