About the role#
The Reliability Engineer Co-op Student will support the identification and assessment of risks that impact plant and business operations. Working under the guidance of the Reliability Engineering Manager, the student will assist in developing and executing reliability and asset management initiatives. This role focuses on improving equipment performance, reducing unplanned downtime, and lowering total cost of ownership through hands-on industrial reliability practices. Students will be assigned specific projects with clear deliverables and receive technical mentorship throughout the term.
What you'll do#
- Support the identification and assessment of operational risks.
- Assist in the development and continuous improvement of asset management strategies, including risk identification and maintenance strategies.
- Collaborate with Maintenance, Operations, and Project teams to support the reliability of new and modified equipment.
- Participate in condition-based monitoring activities, such as fluid and vibration analysis.
- Support Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) on unplanned downtime events and track the effectiveness of corrective actions.
- Assist with CMMS data management, including asset hierarchies, bill of materials creation, and maintenance history.
- Identify and document opportunities for reliability improvement and cost reduction.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Engineering.
- Ability to read and interpret basic P&ID drawings (electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, or pneumatic).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Project, and PowerPoint.
- Previous engineering co-op or summer student experience in an industrial manufacturing environment is an asset.
- Familiarity with CMMS systems, with Oracle eAM 12.2 preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
