About the role#
Oncor Electric Delivery is hiring for a Transmission Construction Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid internship. You will work under the direct supervision of the Transmission Construction Manager to support project development and construction scheduling. The role requires a mix of office work and frequent field visits to job sites. You must be prepared to work in various weather conditions and adapt to changing project priorities on short notice.
What you'll do#
- Assist in developing and maintaining project construction schedules and construction sequence documents.
- Coordinate construction efforts in the field among various internal and external entities.
- Conduct site visits to evaluate construction needs and identify transmission facilities for de-energization.
- Request system outages and equipment clearances through internal software platforms.
- Communicate project status to multiple stakeholders and resolve coordination issues.
- Develop remediation plans when project conflicts or new information arise.
- Facilitate meetings including pre-bid, pre-construction, and district status updates.
- Review projects near completion to ensure readiness for service.
- Learn and apply the Oncor Transmission and Contractor Safety Handbook requirements.
- Provide recommendations to improve construction processes and procedures.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Science, Business, or a related field.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with the design, operation, or construction of electric transmission facilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn new software platforms.
- Strong project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
- Capacity to work within a cross-functional team and negotiate effectively.
- Understanding of financial drivers for transmission projects and the impact of construction on system reliability.
