Military SkillBridge Internship / Transmission System Operator

About the role#

This Military SkillBridge Internship provides an opportunity to work as a Transmission System Operator. The role focuses on directing the safe and reliable construction, maintenance, and repair of transmission and substation equipment. You will help maintain system reliability within the Oncor network and the ERCOT grid.

What you'll do#

• Monitor and control the transmission system to ensure a reliable and efficient power supply for customers.
• Read, interpret, and understand transmission project plans to verify accuracy, safety, and outage feasibility.
• Respond to outages and alarms for transmission and distribution level equipment.
• Coordinate with ERCOT, neighboring transmission operators, generators, and field personnel to maintain reliability and manage power delivery during disruptions.
• Ensure all work complies with the Oncor safety handbook.

What you'll need#

• Must be active-duty military and within the last 180 days of service to qualify.
• Ability to monitor and control complex transmission systems.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting transmission project plans.
• Strong coordination skills for working with ERCOT and external operators.
• Commitment to following established safety protocols.
