About the role#
The Transmission System Operator intern will direct and ensure the safe and reliable construction, maintenance, and repair of transmission and substation equipment. This role focuses on maintaining a high level of system reliability within the Oncor transmission and distribution system and the ERCOT grid.
What you'll do#
- Monitor and control the transmission system to ensure a reliable and efficient supply of power to customers.
- Read, interpret, and understand transmission project plans to evaluate accuracy, outage feasibility, and safety.
- Respond to outages and alarms for transmission and distribution level equipment.
- Coordinate with ERCOT, neighboring transmission operators, generators, and transmission field personnel to maintain system reliability and deliver consistent power during disruptions.
- Ensure all work complies with the Oncor safety handbook.
What you'll need#
- Active-duty military status, specifically within the last 180 days of service.
- Ability to monitor and control complex transmission systems.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting transmission project plans.
- Strong coordination skills for working with ERCOT and neighboring transmission operators.
- Commitment to following safety protocols and the Oncor safety handbook.
