About the role#
Olympus America Inc is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Co-Op for a 6-month assignment from January through June 2027. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Westborough, Massachusetts. You will work within the manufacturing department to support the development and delivery of medical products, including urology, surgical, and gastrointestinal devices.
What you'll do#
- Assist with creating and modifying designs and drawings using SolidWorks.
- Test prototype devices to evaluate functionality.
- Support manufacturing teams with failure analysis.
- Conduct testing on competitive products.
- Work in the lab to perform tests, summarize data, and write technical reports.
- Collaborate with team members through meetings and project updates.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a full-time undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited 4-year institution.
- Completion of freshman year prior to the start of the assignment.
- Graduation date must occur after the assignment ends.
- Ability to balance academic and extracurricular commitments.
- Foundational engineering knowledge, including Calculus and Physics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently.
- Preferred: Experience with SolidWorks, data analysis software, root cause analysis, and prototyping processes.
- Preferred: Strong communication, presentation, and public speaking skills.
