About the role#
Ochsner LSU Health is hiring Nurse Interns to provide direct and indirect patient care in a hospital setting. You will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse to support clinical operations and patient outcomes. This is a part-time, on-site role with rolling start dates.
What you'll do#
- Perform accurate patient assessments and deliver treatments.
- Administer medications and treatments as ordered by the supervising Registered Nurse.
- Document patient responses and outcomes in the electronic medical record.
- Update nursing care plans per hospital protocol.
- Assist with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.
- Answer call lights and help patients with personal hygiene and daily activities.
- Communicate changes in a patient's clinical condition to the supervising nurse.
- Adapt your communication and behavior to meet the needs of specific patient populations.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant laws, regulations, and standards.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Associate, Baccalaureate, or Diploma prelicensure nursing program.
- Alternatively, you may be a graduate of an undergraduate nursing program within 12 months of your first unsuccessful attempt at the NCLEX-RN.
- Successful completion of at least one hospital-based clinical rotation.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association, to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
- Proficiency with computers, software, and web-based applications.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

- This position is based on-site in Shreveport, Louisiana, or Monroe, Louisiana.
- This is a paid, part-time internship.
