About the role#
This is a paid Summer 2027 internship focused on IT and OT Cybersecurity. You will work with a mentor to apply your classroom knowledge to real-world security challenges. Your projects will involve defending computer hardware, software, and systems from theft, loss, and cyberattacks. This role is based in Houston, Texas, and operates on a hybrid schedule.
What you'll do#
- Monitor computer networks for security issues and investigate security events.
- Perform penetration testing and vulnerability scanning to uncover system weaknesses.
- Document security configurations and assess the risk or damage caused by security events.
- Request security measures and configuration adjustments to maintain high-security standards.
- Collaborate with the OT Cybersecurity team on system testing.
- Help colleagues review security software and understand information security management.
- Stay current on IT and OT security trends and assist in developing company-wide best practices.
What you'll need#
- Current 3rd or 4th year undergraduate student at an accredited university pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and IT security tools.
- Knowledge of firewalls, SIEM, antivirus, and IDPS concepts.
- Experience with computer network penetration testing and techniques.
- Ability to research solution vulnerabilities and explain how to avoid them.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future.
- Interest in pursuing a career as a Cybersecurity Analyst.
