About the role#
NYSERDA is hiring a Legal Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This paid position is open to current law school students. You will support the Counsel’s Office by handling research, document review, and administrative legal tasks related to energy policy and state regulations.
What you'll do#
- Research and write on topics including renewable energy, energy efficiency, climate change, building codes, and energy resiliency.
- Review documents and conduct research regarding environmental issues and nuclear waste at the Western New York Nuclear Service Center.
- Assist attorneys with drafting, reviewing, and researching contracting provisions.
- Help prepare responses for Freedom of Information Law requests and subpoenas.
- Support the office with additional legal tasks as needed.
What you'll need#
- You must be a current student at an accredited law school.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Lexis Advance, and standard legal research tools.
- Demonstrated ability to research primary and secondary sources.
- Experience managing multiple tasks and meeting commitments.
- Ability to work in-person at our Albany or New York City offices at least half-time.
