About the role#
As a Systems Reliability Engineer Intern, you will work on distributed systems, virtualization layers, and high-availability cloud platforms. You will spend your summer solving real infrastructure problems alongside senior architects and engineers. This is a hands-on role where you will turn classroom theory into practice. You will be matched with a specific team based on your technical background and strengths.
What you'll do#
- Work on live technical cases with support from a mentor.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues for enterprise customers.
- Partner with internal Engineering teams and technology partners to address systemic issues.
- Propose product enhancements based on feedback from the field.
- Build diagnostic tooling to improve platform performance and reliability.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Associates or Bachelors degree program in Information Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, System Administration, or a related technical field.
- An anticipated graduation date between December 2027 and August 2028.
- Experience providing excellent customer service.
- Working familiarity with Linux/Unix fundamentals, TCP/IP networking, hypervisors like KVM or ESXi, and distributed storage concepts.
- Strong analytical troubleshooting skills and curiosity about how hardware and software interact.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Location & details#
- This internship is located in Durham, North Carolina.
- The role is hybrid, requiring at least 3 days per week on-site.
- The term lasts 12 weeks during Summer 2027.
- This is a full-time, paid position with an hourly rate between $27.00 and $37.00.
