Nuovo Artistic Photography is seeking a Research & Development Intern to assist with hands-on fabrication, assembly, and prototyping. This role involves working directly with the R&D team to construct new studio shooting rooms and transform technical designs into finished, installed hardware. This is a full-time, on-site internship.
What you'll do#
- Assemble and install studio hardware, including camera columns, flash mounts, motorized flags, blinds, indicator lights, and control hardware.
- Build prototype mechanical assemblies and production components using CAD models and technical drawings.
- Operate 3D printers and CNC equipment to fabricate parts.
- Perform basic wiring and mechanical integration of studio equipment.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, making dimensional adjustments as needed.
- Fabricate custom hardware, such as brackets and camera mounts, to support R&D projects.
- Maintain shop tools and equipment while keeping the workspace organized.
- Document builds, identify issues, and provide feedback to the R&D team.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Graphic Design, Architecture, Computer Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
- Proficiency with CAD software such as OnShape, Solidworks, Fusion 360, or AutoCAD.
- Hands-on experience with FDM 3D printing, including setup, slicing, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to read technical drawings and work independently from build specifications.
- Comfort using hand and power tools, precision measuring equipment, and assembling mechanical systems.
- Experience with CNC milling is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with basic wiring, low-voltage electrical assembly, smart-home hardware, or personal project portfolios is an asset.

- Term: Fall 2026 (August 31st to December 18th, 2026).
- Modality: On-site.
