About the role#
The GIS Intern at Nsight assists with mapping projects and record-keeping for outside plant initiatives. You will work directly with engineering and management teams to maintain accurate data and support current projects through various GIS tasks.
What you'll do#
- Collect data using GNSS receivers and import information from multiple sources.
- Update and maintain GIS data by reviewing construction and engineering documents.
- Perform spatial analysis, data management, and conversions using GIS tools.
- Design static and web maps for ongoing projects.
- Assist engineering teams with mapping and record-keeping for outside plant operations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BS program for geography, engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience with ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Google Earth, or open-source GIS software.
- Understanding of Web GIS concepts like services, maps, and portals.
- Familiarity with utility construction methods and industry standards for record keeping.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong verbal and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail and technical comfort with GIS tools.
