About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for the Summer 2027 term based in Northwood, Ohio. You will join a team that develops and tests bonding systems for automotive glass and performs failure analysis. Beyond daily tasks, you will plan and execute an independent project tailored to company needs and your specific interests.
What you'll do#
- Assemble, condition, and test laboratory samples.
- Assist with R&D experiments, focusing on bonding systems.
- Participate in large-scale experiments such as design of experiments (DOEs) within R&D and validation.
- Maintain a detailed lab notebook and enter data into systems promptly.
- Collate findings and write formal lab reports.
- Keep lab spaces clean and organized.
- Handle chemical disposal and logging according to HSE policies.
- Support health, safety, and environmental initiatives, including the recycling program.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an associate or bachelor degree in chemical engineering, material science, or chemistry.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good organizational, observational, and note-taking abilities.
- Familiarity with engineering math and basic statistics, or a willingness to learn these skills.
- A self-motivated and flexible approach to managing shifting priorities.
- An interest in the chemistry and structure of surfaces.
