About the role#
This Scientist Intern position supports the SA Lab staff by analyzing samples prepared by the TFT team. You will handle sample preparation, data analysis, documentation, and storage. This role requires flexibility to manage multiple tasks simultaneously as priorities shift.
What you'll do#
- Operate lab equipment including the Lambda 1050 Spectrophotometer, Haze Gard, Colorsphere, FTIR, Four Point Probe, and Profilometer.
- Prepare samples for analysis and FAAS testing while following established SOPs.
- Maintain accurate records according to ISO9001:2000 standards.
- Handle chemicals safely in accordance with SDS standards and maintain 5S in the lab.
- Analyze coating defects and characterize CVD coated glass samples.
- Participate in weekly MSC analysis and enter data into ERS.
- Attend plant trials, deliver samples, and assist in the cold end when requested.
- Suggest improvements for lab operations and report equipment issues.
- Adhere to NSG/Pilkington Standards of Business Conduct.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of an undergraduate degree in a scientific or engineering field.
- Hands-on technical skills and strong analytical problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work in team environments.
- Commitment to safe and ethical behavior.
- Prior experience in an industrial laboratory or with hazardous chemicals is preferred.
- A self-starter mindset with a desire for continuous learning.
