About the role#
This summer internship provides hands-on experience supporting the research and development stages of Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD). You will work alongside a team of technicians, engineers, and scientists to contribute to real-world projects.
What you'll do#
- Operate complex CVD laboratory equipment.
- Prepare glass substrates for laboratory depositions.
- Handle chemicals safely according to SDS standards.
- Troubleshoot process issues and implement solutions.
- Develop and implement new CVD laboratory equipment.
- Operate small pilot scale equipment in both laboratory and manufacturing plant settings.
- Create and follow standard operating procedures for lab equipment.
- Maintain accurate, detailed records in line with ISO9001:2000 standards.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with all lab personnel.
- Identify ways to improve the safety of CVD lab operations.
- Adhere to company standards of business conduct.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree program in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or Chemistry.
- Demonstrated hands-on technical skills.
- Strong analytical and problem solving aptitude.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Commitment to safe and ethical behavior.
- Experience in an industrial laboratory environment and with handling hazardous chemicals is preferred.
- Ability to work well in team environments.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
