About the role#
Novelis is offering a 12-week, full-time Mechanical Engineering Internship at our Guthrie, Kentucky facility for the summer of 2027. You will work on-site, reporting to the Engineering Leader and collaborating with our local engineering team to gain practical industry experience.
What you'll do#
- Learn about industrial machinery, mechanical power transmission systems, and pumping systems.
- Support various mechanical or reliability engineering projects.
- Perform modifications to engineering drawings.
- Troubleshoot industrial manufacturing equipment, including furnaces, mobile equipment, and aluminum rolling lines.
- Work under the supervision of staff engineers to implement current reliability and maintenance standards.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited 4-year university as a sophomore, junior, senior, or recent graduate.
- A major in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Current authorization to work in the United States for any employer.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Familiarity with MS Office and AutoCAD products.
- Experience with precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators.
- A genuine interest in gaining hands-on industry experience before graduation.

- Compensation: This is a paid internship. A combined housing and relocation stipend is available for interns living outside an extended radius.
