About the role#
Novelis is hiring an Electrical Technician Intern for a 10 to 12 week program during Summer 2027. This position is located at our Oswego, New York facility. You will report to the Associate EMRA Leader and gain practical experience in electrical technology within a manufacturing environment. This is a full-time, paid internship.
What you'll do#
- Shadow and assist qualified electricians with daily maintenance and repair tasks.
- Use specialized measuring and diagnostic devices to evaluate equipment and inspect for problems.
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical, electromechanical, and electronic parts of machinery.
- Work with wires using hand tools and manage small components.
- Repair or replace defective parts in motors, generators, controllers, switchboards, and other electrical fixtures.
- Perform defensive repair and preservation of electrical systems and devices.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to plan work orders.
- Receive training in electrical safety and general maintenance procedures.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited 2-year Electrical Technology program.
- A strong interest in gaining hands-on industry experience before graduation.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills to interact across the organization.
- Current authorization to work in the United States for any employer.
- Experience with basic hand tools and computer skills are preferred.
