About the role#
Novelis is seeking an Automation Engineering Intern for a 12-week summer program at our Guthrie, Kentucky facility. You will report to the Engineering Leader and work alongside our local engineering team to support various automation projects and gain hands-on industry experience.
What you'll do#
- Learn about industrial networking, infrastructure, application development, and database management.
- Support the continuous improvement of the plant MES system and manufacturing process automation.
- Script interfaces and messaging between the MES and sub-systems.
- Maintain automation clusters, including server, storage, and virtual environments.
- Deploy operating system and application updates across automation devices.
- Resolve complex engineering problems using technical data and special study programs.
- Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and Process groups to support manufacturing.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited 4-year university as a Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or recent graduate.
- Major in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
- Current authorization to work in the United States.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience with SQL programming, relational databases, and object-oriented programming or scripting.
- Experience with application messaging, web development, and multi-threaded application development.
- Experience with version control, DevOps, Windows configuration, and network management.
- Experience with virtualization, OPC, HMI/SCADA systems, and PLC systems.
