About the role#
The Student Campus Safety Officer supports the Campus Safety and Security Department in keeping the university environment safe and welcoming. You will act as a representative of the university while performing patrols, access control, and safety monitoring. Officers are cross-trained to work as both Patrol and Dispatch staff. This is a paid, part-time position for currently enrolled students.
What you'll do#
- Perform routine patrols and provide customer service to the campus community.
- Enforce parking and trespassing policies.
- Serve as a Dispatch Officer by receiving and making calls on behalf of the university.
- Monitor campus activity using virtual patrolling methods via department camera systems.
- Provide emergency service response, management, and documentation during incidents.
- Maintain access control for campus buildings and provide safety escorts.
- Attend weekly department meetings and participate in required training sessions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student at North Central University in good academic and disciplinary standing.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Ability to pass a BCA criminal background check and a DMV background check.
- Capacity to complete Campus Safety orientation and departmental training.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
- Basic computer proficiency and the ability to learn departmental software.
