About the role#
Nexus Family Healing is seeking interns to gain practical experience in a trauma informed residential facility. This role allows students to apply classroom theory to real-world scenarios while supporting a diverse group of youth and families. This is an unpaid internship opportunity.
What you'll do#
- Fulfill the learning objectives and criteria required by your academic institution.
- Participate in orientation and onboarding to learn policies, procedures, and safety expectations.
- Maintain client confidentiality regarding all treatment and services information.
- Act ethically, professionally, and respectfully when interacting with clients, coworkers, and external contacts.
- Adhere to an agreed upon schedule and maintain timeliness.
- Assist staff in physical interventions and restraints of clients when necessary.
- Participate in and complete the Handle With Care behavior intervention method training.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor's, master's, or graduate degree program in behavioral sciences, human services, or a related field.
- Completion of required experience hours for your specific internship level.
- A valid driver's license that meets state and company driving requirements.
- Ability to pass a DHS background check.
- Capacity to build strong relationships with diverse individuals and communities.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted or up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to stand, walk, twist, bend, and stretch for extended periods during daily residential activities.
- Knowledge of family-based philosophy and practice is preferred.
