About the role#
NextNav is seeking a QA & Field Test Intern to join the Spectrum and Co-existence test team. This position involves hands-on integration, test setup, execution, and validation of wireless equipment and systems in the 900 MHz band. You will work on-site in Santa Clara, California, with occasional field testing in Palo Alto.
What you'll do#
- Plan and execute laboratory and field testing of wireless communication systems, including spectrum, interference, and coexistence testing.
- Configure and operate RF and data-collection equipment such as spectrum analyzers, signal generators, antennas, radios, and oscilloscopes.
- Develop and execute test plans, procedures, test cases, and acceptance criteria while documenting test environments and results.
- Collect and analyze RF and system-performance data to identify trends, anomalies, and performance gaps.
- Develop Python, MATLAB, or similar automation tools to streamline test execution, data collection, and visualization.
- Identify, reproduce, document, and track defects while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams to troubleshoot issues and validate fixes.
- Communicate findings through technical reports, charts, and presentations.
- Lift, carry, and transport testing equipment weighing up to 25 pounds and perform equipment setup in laboratory and field environments.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Telecommunications, or Wireless Engineering.
- Proficiency in Python programming is required.
- Experience using and controlling verification test equipment, specifically spectrum analyzers and oscilloscopes.
- Strong attention to detail and systematic analytical skills.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- A valid state-issued driver’s license.
- Ability to drive to test locations and transport equipment as needed for field testing.

- Location: Santa Clara, California.
- Work Modality: On-site, up to 40 hours per week.
- Schedule: Physical presence is required in the office and laboratory Tuesday through Thursday.
