NexGold Mining Corp. is seeking a Community Relations Co-op Student for the Fall 2026 term at the Goldboro Gold Project. This role supports the Community Relations team in engagement activities, communications, and administrative tasks. The position requires regular travel within Nova Scotia and occasional work during evenings and weekends.
What you'll do#
- Support outreach, relationship-building, and communication with local residents, community organizations, and Mi’kmaq communities.
- Assist in planning, organizing logistics, and attending community meetings, workshops, and engagement sessions.
- Prepare community-facing materials such as newsletters, presentations, and fact sheets.
- Participate in community visits and support Indigenous-led events, such as Powwows.
- Draft correspondence, meeting notes, summaries, and internal reports.
- Maintain stakeholder contact lists, update engagement databases, and track metrics.
- Conduct background research on community issues and project topics.
- Provide administrative support, including scheduling, file management, and liaising with other departments.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a post-secondary co-op program in Public Relations, Community Studies, Indigenous Studies, Business Administration, Communications, Social Sciences, Arts & Humanities, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with effective interpersonal abilities.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Cultural awareness and a willingness to learn about Mi’kmaq culture and protocols.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital communication tools like Canva.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a hybrid environment.
- A valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation for regular travel within Nova Scotia.
- Must meet eligibility criteria for grant funding, including being a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident, or Protected Person, and legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Lived experience and understanding of Mi’kmaq culture and rural communities in Nova Scotia is an asset.
Location & details#
- Location: Goldboro Gold Project, Goldboro, Nova Scotia.
- Term: Fall 2026 (September 8, 2026 – December 18, 2026).
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm AST.
- Modality: Hybrid, with regular travel to surrounding communities.
- Compensation: $24.72 per hour.
- Note: This is a local position; company-provided housing is not available.
