About the role#
Newtown Savings Bank offers a 12-week summer internship program running from late May through mid-August. This is a full-time, onsite opportunity where you will work alongside banking professionals on meaningful projects. You will participate in professional development sessions, interact with executive leadership, and join an intern cohort to build your professional network. We are looking for students pursuing degrees in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Human Resources, Criminal Justice, or Data Science.
What you'll do#
Your specific responsibilities depend on your assigned department, but you will engage in tasks such as:
- Observing backend banking processes and assisting with testing activities.
- Supporting the Finance team with daily balancing, reconciliations, accounts payable, and reporting.
- Helping the Fraud and BSA teams with Customer Due Diligence, transaction reporting, and alert reviews.
- Assisting with risk management initiatives, including vendor risk assessment, internal audits, and information security tasks.
- Participating in Human Resources functions like recruiting, candidate screening, employee relations, and onboarding.
- Evaluating operational workflows and using AI tools to automate tasks and improve efficiency.
What you'll need#
- You must be a current college student.
- Relevant work or internship experience is required.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- You should be a quick learner who is adaptable, self-driven, and team-oriented.
- Comfort working with multiple software systems.
Location & details#
- This is an onsite, full-time position located in Newtown, Connecticut.
- The internship requires a commitment of 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
- Preference is given to those who can commit to the full 12-week period.
