IT Service Desk Intern

About the role#

The IT Service Desk Intern will work within the Information Technology department to support internal operations and end-user technical needs. This role involves managing hardware lifecycles, assisting with technical troubleshooting, and maintaining documentation under the guidance of a mentor. This is a paid, full-time summer internship.

What you'll do#

• Assist end users with basic technical issues.
• Set up new laptops by installing required software, updates, and security tools.
• Document the hardware retirement process, including asset expiration, e-waste, and secure data wiping.
• Create and update knowledge base articles and step-by-step technical guides.
• Research recurring technical issues and document solutions for future reference.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in an accredited degree program with a concentration in business, project management, technology, or a related field (specifically Computer Science, Business Administration, or Cybersecurity).
• Basic knowledge of cloud computing and troubleshooting.
• Ability to problem-solve complex assignments through research and analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present information clearly.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with colleagues and clients.
• Ability to work under general supervision with initiative and discretion.

Location & details#

• Location: Albany, New York (On-site).
• Term: Summer 2026 (May 18 – August 7).
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
• Compensation: $22 per hour for undergraduate students; $24 per hour for graduate students.
• Note: Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship.
