Data and Business Analyst Intern

About the role#

As a Data and Business Analyst Intern within the Data Services and Management practice area, you will support project teams by collecting, cleaning, and analyzing data. This role focuses on providing analytical support for client engagements in the higher education sector and contributing to internal practice initiatives. You will work under the guidance of an assigned mentor to build competencies in business development, quality management, and professional communication.

What you'll do#

• Perform data analysis and generate reports using Excel, SQL, and data visualization tools.
• Apply data quality checks and validation techniques to ensure dataset accuracy and reliability.
• Analyze and interpret higher education data sets to support insights and decision-making.
• Assist with business analysis activities, including gathering requirements, documenting processes, and communicating with stakeholders.
• Participate in internal and client-facing meetings and assist in the preparation of reports and presentations.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in an accredited undergraduate or graduate degree program in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel through coursework or projects.
• Knowledge of basic statistics and data analysis methods.
• Exposure to SQL and/or Python or R through academic projects or internships.
• Ability to interpret data and communicate insights clearly.
• Strong attention to detail with effective organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship.

• Location: Albany, New York.
• Modality: On-site.
• Term: Summer 2026 (May 18 – August 7).
• Schedule: Full-time, typically 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
• Compensation: $22 per hour for undergraduate students; $24 per hour for graduate students.
