About the role#
As an Engineering Intern at Nemacolin, you will apply industrial engineering principles to improve operations at a luxury resort. This 12-week program bridges the gap between academic theory and real-world application. You will work across departments, including Engineering, Facilities, and Housekeeping, to analyze workflows and support resort-wide initiatives.
What you'll do#
- Analyze workflows, labor, productivity, and service processes to develop data-driven performance recommendations.
- Conduct time studies and labor modeling to establish standard operating procedures.
- Execute continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Build dashboards and reports to track KPIs like labor efficiency and maintenance performance.
- Plan and optimize preventative maintenance schedules and track work-order performance.
- Evaluate energy and water usage to support sustainability goals.
- Participate in facility inspections and quality assurance reviews.
- Complete an experiential project that connects your academic background to a specific operational challenge.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent graduation from a bachelor’s degree program in Industrial Engineering or a related field.
- A high school diploma.
- Previous internship or coursework focused on process improvement or operations analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Interest in hospitality, luxury service, or resort operations.
- Familiarity with Tableau, Power BI, Lean, Six Sigma, or facilities management systems is preferred.
