About the role#
As a UX/UI Designer Intern, you will gain hands-on experience by contributing to active product and design system initiatives. You will work alongside our UX Design team on production-quality projects rather than simulations. This is a paid, part-time position that offers one-on-one mentorship and a flexible schedule.
What you'll do#
- Create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes in Figma.
- Apply and maintain design system components, variables, and styles.
- Participate in design critiques by giving and receiving feedback.
- Collaborate with UX Designers and Accessibility Leads to produce implementation-ready designs.
- Learn foundational UX practices including visual hierarchy, typography, responsive design, and basic accessibility.
- Present your work to the team and iterate based on feedback.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Interaction Design, Digital Media, Information Science, or a related field.
- Working proficiency in Figma is required, with a portfolio or coursework demonstrating these skills preferred.
- You have a foundational understanding of visual design principles like color, layout, and hierarchy.
- You are detail-oriented and able to manage multiple small design tasks at the same time.
- You have strong communication skills and a curiosity about accessible and inclusive design.
- No prior professional experience is required.
Location & details#
- This position is on-site at our offices in Madison, WI, Lincoln, NE, or Centennial, CO.
- This is a part-time internship with rolling start dates.
