About the role#
As an Actuarial Intern, you will join a team that transforms data into insights to drive decisions across our insurance, finance, and risk portfolios. You will gain exposure to real-world actuarial problems and the business of financial risk management while working on projects that support students, schools, and families.
What you'll do#
- Support the development and maintenance of actuarial models used in forecasting, pricing, and risk analysis.
- Assist in compiling and analyzing large datasets related to niche insurance products.
- Contribute to experience studies, trend analysis, and loss development reporting.
- Collaborate with actuarial, finance, and business teams to interpret results and support strategic planning.
- Learn to use actuarial tools such as Excel, SQL, R, and VBA.
- Present findings and insights to team members and other stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or a related field.
- Completion of at least one actuarial exam is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Excel and a willingness to learn basic programming skills.
- Detail-oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated, eager to learn, and able to thrive in a collaborative environment.
Location & details#
- This position is located on-site in Lincoln, Nebraska.
- This is a part-time, paid internship with a rolling term.
