About the role#
The Electrical Engineer Co-op supports product development through electrical design, analysis, prototyping, testing, and documentation. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Grimes or Des Moines, Iowa. You will work 40 hours per week during the Winter 2027 term, from January 2027 through May 2027.
What you'll do#
- Analyze assigned projects to create plans, goals, and strategies for completion.
- Design and build test fixtures.
- Test and evaluate equipment to recommend design modifications.
- Assist manufacturing and service teams with equipment troubleshooting.
- Work hands-on with engineering and shop personnel to develop equipment.
- Design products for potential market release, working both independently and collaboratively.
- Support research and development for product innovation.
- Collaborate across different departments.
- Present final project outcomes to peers and leadership.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Comfort working with electrical wiring and components.
- Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
- Strong time management, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and a willingness to learn new technologies.
- Experience with PCB design, Arduino, or Raspberry Pi is a plus.
