About the role#
National Carwash Solutions is looking for an Operations Management Intern to gain hands-on experience in our manufacturing facility. You will work alongside our Operations Manager and cross-functional teams to learn how a production environment functions day to day. This role focuses on production planning, process improvement, materials flow, and operational reporting.
What you'll do#
- Monitor production schedules and work-in-process status for fabrication, welding, and assembly.
- Track and analyze key metrics like throughput, cycle time, downtime, and labor efficiency.
- Prepare operational reports, dashboards, and KPI summaries using Excel.
- Assist with inventory control, cycle counts, and material replenishment.
- Document and implement standard work procedures and maintain operational documentation.
- Coordinate with purchasing, supply chain, and engineering to communicate priorities and schedules.
- Support continuous improvement projects including Kaizen events and root-cause analysis.
- Participate in quality checks and document nonconformances.
- Review manufacturing functions and employee suggestions to find ways to improve safety, cost, and quality.
- Assist with facility organization and 6S practices.
- Attend daily production and safety meetings to track action items.
- Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and regulatory laws.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program for Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Standing as a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Word and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Basic math and writing skills.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform physical tasks like bending, reaching, or climbing ladders.
- Previous experience in manufacturing, logistics, or warehouse environments is preferred.
- Exposure to ERP/MRP systems, lean methodologies, or 6S is a plus.

- This is a full-time, paid internship located on-site in Grimes, Iowa.
- The position follows a rolling term.
