About the role#
The Mechanical Engineering Co-op will support product development through mechanical design, analysis, prototyping, testing, and documentation. You will work 40 hours per week during the Winter 2027 term, which runs from January 2027 through May 2027.
What you'll do#
- Analyze assigned projects to create plans, goals, and strategies for completion.
- Design and build test fixtures.
- Test and evaluate equipment to recommend design modifications.
- Provide troubleshooting assistance to manufacturing and service personnel.
- Work hands-on with engineering and shop staff to develop equipment.
- Design products for potential market release both independently and as part of a team.
- Support research and development for product innovation.
- Collaborate across different departments.
- Present final project outcomes to peer and leadership groups.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Competency in CAD solid modeling.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Self-directed problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- A willingness to learn new technologies.
- Preferred: Analytical skills such as FEA, CFD, or manual calculations.

- This is an on-site, full-time position located in Grimes, Iowa, or Des Moines, Iowa.
- This role is paid.
