About the role#
This 12-week paid internship provides a realistic look at commercial construction at Monteith Construction. You will work on projects with various contract amounts and gain exposure to the work of industry professionals. The program includes companywide intern activities, department introductions, volunteer opportunities, and team events.
What you'll do#
- Support Project Engineers and Project Managers with RFIs, submittals, drawings, and project documentation.
- Work with Superintendents to understand daily jobsite operations, sequencing, and trade partner coordination.
- Participate in jobsite walks, project meetings, safety meetings, and planning sessions.
- Track project schedules, upcoming activities, and construction progress.
- Review drawings and specifications to understand project scope.
- Document jobsite progress through photos, field reports, and project management tools.
- Assist with quality control and punch list activities.
- Gain exposure to safety procedures and help maintain an organized jobsite.
- Collaborate with trade partners.
- Learn to use construction technology and project management software, including Procore.
- Complete a final presentation on your experience and contributions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university.
- Pursuit of a degree in a related field or construction management program.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in writing and verbally.
