About the role#
This paid summer internship offers a realistic look at commercial construction at Monteith Construction. You will spend 12 weeks working on projects in Wilmington, NC, gaining exposure to various building types and working alongside industry professionals.
What you'll do#
- Support Project Engineers and Project Managers with RFIs, submittals, drawings, and project documentation.
- Work with Superintendents to learn about daily jobsite operations, sequencing, and the coordination of trade partners.
- Participate in jobsite walks, planning sessions, and safety meetings.
- Assist with tracking project schedules and construction progress.
- Review drawings and specifications to understand project scope.
- Document site progress through photos, field reports, and project management tools.
- Help with quality control and punch list activities.
- Learn to use construction technology and software, including Procore.
- Participate in intern programming, volunteer opportunities, and team events.
- Complete a final presentation about your experience and contributions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university.
- Pursuit of a degree in construction management or a related field.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both in writing and verbally.
