About the role#
As a Reliability Engineer Intern, you will help improve the performance and long-term health of manufacturing assets. You will work alongside Reliability, Maintenance, and Operations teams to support predictive maintenance, asset risk management, and continuous improvement. A primary focus of this role is the continued development of the site Asset Health Map program, which helps guide maintenance and capital investment decisions.
What you'll do#
- Support the development and implementation of the site Asset Health Map program.
- Collect, organize, and analyze equipment reliability, maintenance, inspection, and operational data.
- Evaluate equipment condition indicators and reliability metrics to identify emerging risks.
- Develop tools and processes to improve how asset health information is tracked and utilized.
- Support preventive and predictive maintenance initiatives to reduce unplanned downtime.
- Review maintenance strategies and equipment histories to identify optimization opportunities.
- Assist in developing asset criticality and risk-based prioritization models.
- Support investigations into equipment failures and recurring reliability issues, including root cause analysis.
- Assist with long-range equipment replacement strategies and capital planning efforts.
- Support Process Safety Management and site reliability initiatives.
- Create dashboards, reports, and visualizations to communicate asset condition and reliability trends.
- Conduct field visits to verify equipment conditions and gather operational insights.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Rising junior, senior, or graduate-level student status is preferred.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is preferred.
- Ability to work safely in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Interest in Reliability Engineering, Asset Management, Maintenance Engineering, or Process Safety.
- Familiarity with reliability concepts like root cause analysis, preventive maintenance, or predictive maintenance.
- Exposure to maintenance systems, SAP, Power BI, data analytics tools, or engineering software is a plus.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems, rotating equipment, instrumentation, or industrial processes.
- Active enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program at the time of application and for at least one semester following the internship.
