    About the role#

    As a Production Engineer Intern, you will drive process improvements and identify energy-saving opportunities in our Polymers 2 manufacturing area. You will work alongside experienced engineers and production professionals to gain hands-on experience in chemical manufacturing operations. This role focuses on projects that improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance equipment reliability. You will also participate in capital project implementation and recommend solutions that create measurable business impact.

    What you'll do#

    • Analyze production processes to reduce material usage, improve efficiency, and lower operating costs.
    • Track solvent consumption data to optimize cleanup procedures and minimize waste.
    • Use statistical tools and process data to establish performance standards and drive continuous improvement.
    • Support Lean Manufacturing activities and complete Lean Six Sigma Yellow or White Belt certification training.
    • Assist with the development of new manufacturing processes, operating procedures, and safety documentation.
    • Participate in safety improvement projects to reduce workplace hazards.
    • Lead cross-functional teams to identify and eliminate potential exposure risks.
    • Develop tools, dashboards, and reports to improve communication, workforce planning, and operational visibility.
    • Create digital solutions for managing certifications, staffing, and overtime scheduling.
    • Support the organization of critical engineering documents through SharePoint.
    • Complete certification training on multiple production processes.
    • Document project progress and present findings to site leadership and engineering teams.

    What you'll need#

    • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
    • Actively enrolled in a program at the time of application and for at least one semester following the internship.
    • Demonstrated ability to work safely and effectively in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills for cross-team collaboration.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Friendly, West Virginia.
    • Term: Summer 2027.
    • Schedule: Full-time (40 hours per week for 10-12 weeks).
    • Modality: On-site.
    • Compensation: Paid position ($22.00 - $26.00 per hour).
