About the role#
The Nurse Intern I supports the Intensive Care Unit team by performing clinical procedures and assisting registered nurses with daily patient care. This is a per diem role based in Utica, New York.
What you'll do#
- Provide direct patient care, including bathing, oral and hair care, bed making, ambulation, positioning, and toileting.
- Take and record patient measurements such as vital signs, weights, and intake and output.
- Assist with wound care, dressing changes, and exam procedures.
- Set up equipment like portable oxygen, suction, and telemetry electrodes.
- Collect, label, and transport specimens to the lab.
- Lift and transfer patients using proper body mechanics and devices.
- Answer patient call lights and respond to emergency situations.
- Alert the supervising RN of abnormal findings or changes in patient conditions.
- Maintain unit cleanliness, replenish stock, and prepare patient rooms for admissions or discharges.
- Secure and transport medications to and from the pharmacy.
- Perform tasks like EKGs, phlebotomy, or traction setup after receiving training.
- Sit with patients requiring 1:1 observation or assist with patient transport.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Nursing Program.
- Completion of at least one semester of clinicals.
- Prior experience in a clinical setting is preferred.

- Location: Utica, New York.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Variable shift, 12-hour shifts.
- Compensation: $18 per hour.
