About the role#
This Nurse Intern position supports the 8th Floor Med Surg team by assisting registered nurses with direct patient care and unit maintenance. You will work on-site in Utica, New York, to help ensure patient comfort and safety while gaining clinical experience.
What you'll do#
- Provide direct patient care, including bathing, oral care, and patient positioning.
- Take and record vital signs, weights, and intake and output measurements.
- Assist with patient transport, lifting, and transfers using proper techniques.
- Respond to patient call lights and sit with patients requiring 1:1 observation.
- Collect, label, and send specimens to the lab.
- Set up equipment like portable oxygen, suction, and telemetry electrodes.
- Assist providers with wound care, dressing changes, and exam procedures.
- Perform EKGs or phlebotomy after receiving training.
- Secure and transport medications to and from the pharmacy.
- Prepare rooms for admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Maintain unit cleanliness and replenish stock items.
- Alert the supervising RN to any abnormal findings or changes in patient condition.
- Respond to emergency situations as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Nursing Program.
- Completion of at least one semester of clinicals.
- Prior clinical experience is preferred.

- Compensation: $18 per hour.
