About the role#
This is a temporary full-time internship for Summer 2027. You will join our project teams in either Oakland or Walnut Creek to support technical engineering tasks. You will produce basic drawings, models, calculations, and data sets while learning core tools and workflows. You will work under direct supervision with detailed instructions.
What you'll do#
- Analyze and design waterfront and marine structures, such as piers, wharves, bulkheads, seawalls, and foundations.
- Work with timber, structural steel, reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, aluminum, and composite materials.
- Assist in developing plans, specifications, calculations, and reports.
- Help resolve design problems through field investigations or inspections.
- Perform detailed checking of design computations and coordinate specific design aspects.
- Calculate construction quantity estimates and review shop drawings or technical submittals.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, scientists, and project managers on multi-discipline projects.
- Conduct structural site inspections and prepare formal reports.
What you'll need#
- You are pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis and will be entering your final year after the summer of 2027.
- Completed coursework in Engineering Materials, Structural Analysis, and at least one material design course (reinforced concrete or structural steel).
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- You must pass a pre-employment background check.
- Preference is given to Master’s degree students, those with EIT certification, and candidates with at least one previous internship.
- Experience with AutoCAD, SAP2000, LPile, Mathcad, and Bluebeam is preferred.

- The position is paid and full-time for the summer term.
