About the role#
MNP is seeking an Assurance and Accounting Intern for the Winter 2028 term. This role provides an opportunity to work within a team dedicated to financial reporting and advisory services. You will assist in providing financial information to help clients make informed business decisions.
What you'll do#
- Develop technical skills in compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping, and tax.
- Apply knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and ASPE standards.
- Set up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses, manage multiple files simultaneously, and conduct inventory counts.
- Perform tasks related to accounts receivable, accounts payable, capital asset acquisition and disposition, and payroll walk-throughs.
- Summarize financial status by preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other relevant reports.
- Assess the appropriateness of audit evidence for revenues, expenses, and asset accounts.
- Review, investigate, and correct discrepancies in financial entries and reports.
- Establish charts of accounts and prepare entries for posting.
- Prepare technical reports, client summaries, and presentations regarding engagement findings.
- Collaborate with engagement teams and build relationships with client contacts.
- Contribute to process improvements and maintain flexibility to travel as necessary.
What you'll need#
- Currently working towards a bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration, with a preference for accounting or finance majors.
- Working towards prerequisites for admission into the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP).
- Previous accounting office experience is considered an asset.
- Customer or client service experience is considered an asset.
- Experience with accounting and tax software is considered an asset.
