About the role#
As an Intern or Co-op Student with the Assurance and Accounting team, you will support clients by providing financial information and advisory services. You will gain hands-on experience in a professional services environment while working toward your professional accounting goals.
What you'll do#
- Develop technical skills in compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping, and tax.
- Apply knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and ASPE standards.
- Perform walk-throughs with clients regarding accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and capital asset transactions.
- Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
- Investigate and correct discrepancies in financial entries and documents.
- Set up files for new clients and manage multiple engagements simultaneously.
- Prepare technical reports, correspondence, and client summaries.
- Collaborate with the engagement team and build relationships with client contacts.
- Contribute to process improvements using internal systems.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program in commerce or business administration, with a preference for accounting or finance majors.
- Progress toward meeting the prerequisites for admission into the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP).
- Flexibility to travel as necessary.
- Previous office experience, customer service experience, or familiarity with accounting and tax software are considered assets.
