About the role#
This is a paid, full-time Co-op Accountant position within the Tax team for the Winter 2027 term. You will gain experience in a professional accounting firm, working on tax strategies and compliance for various entities.
What you'll do#
- Build technical skills in compilations, reviews, bookkeeping, and tax.
- Research tax issues and determine their implications.
- Collect and analyze financial and tax data.
- Investigate and fix discrepancies in financial reports and documents.
- Calculate taxes and prepare tax returns for clients.
- Apply knowledge of IFRS, ASPE, and the Canadian Income Tax Act.
- Set up files for new clients and manage multiple projects at once.
- Prepare technical reports, client summaries, and correspondence.
- Collaborate with engagement teams and client contacts.
- Suggest improvements for internal work processes.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program in commerce or business administration, with a preference for accounting or finance majors.
- Progress toward prerequisites for the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP).
- Previous experience in a tax or accounting office is an asset.
- Experience with accounting and tax software is an asset.
- Customer or client service experience is an asset.
