Co - op Accountant, Assurance and Accounting (September 2026)

About the role#

MNP is seeking a Co-op Accountant for the Assurance and Accounting team in Strathroy, Ontario, for the Fall 2026 term. This full-time, paid position offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in financial reporting and advisory services while working with a diverse client base.

What you'll do#

• Develop technical proficiency in compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping, and tax services.
• Apply knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and ASPE standards to client engagements.
• Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports to summarize client status.
• Assess audit evidence for revenues, expenses, capital assets, and payables.
• Conduct walk-throughs with clients regarding accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and capital asset transactions.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial entries and documentation.
• Set up new client files, manage multiple engagements, and assist with inventory counts.
• Prepare technical reports and correspondence to communicate engagement findings.
• Collaborate with the engagement team and maintain professional relationships with client contacts.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing or completed a bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration, with a preference for accounting or finance majors.
• Completion of, or progress toward, the prerequisites required for admission into the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP).
• Flexibility to travel as required by engagement needs.
• Previous office experience in an accounting environment is considered an asset.
• Experience in customer or client service roles is an asset.
• Familiarity with accounting and tax software is considered an asset.
